Pros and Cons of Marble
Marble still holds appeal for many, for the use within a kitchen. However there a few things to be aware of.
Pros:
📌 Timeless appeal
📌 Add's value to a kitchen
📌 No two slabs are ever the same.
📌 It is hard to replicate, in fact, impossible.
📌 Heat resistant, care should still be taken.
📌 Used throughout the centuries.
📌 Comes in a great array of variations and colours which will suit any kitchen.
📌 When proper maintenance is undertaken marble will last for many lifetimes.
It has a very low silica content; it is one of the lowest (limestone is lower).
Cons:
📌 It is expensive.
📌 Porous and will stain.
📌 The appearance will change over time. Which may add to the general appeal.
📌 It is softer than other stones and can chip more easily.
📌 More care is required to maintain.
